Chronology of cameras Busch Emil

Busch Camera Co. London was the British subsidiary of Emil Busch AG in Rathenow.

This subsidiary distributed its own range of cameras in the very early 1900s.

The "Freewheel" Model A is a horizontal folding camera. It appears to differ from the Model B only in its lens: a Busch's Rapid Rectilinear with an aperture of f/8 on the A and a brighter f/6 on the B.

"Freewheel" designation highlights one of the camera's features: the ability to disengage the film advance key and, thus, rewind the film for a unique capability – the use of plates without holders through an opening on the top of the body. This opening, concealed by a retractable metal plate, also allowed the introduction of a ground glass for proper focusing.

Interestingly, the leather handle on the side of the camera bears the inscription "Cameo," which doesn't correspond to anything identified with Busch. Cameo folding cameras can be found with Butcher around the same time. Is this a reuse or repurposing?
